'Materials or Structures are crying due to their damage. By means of NDTs as AE, UT.., we can diagnose their health condition. Reasonable solutions for their integrity can thus be evaluated for civil infrastructures. We do not limit application fields, please feel free to ask us for damage evaluation of your materials/structures.'

Brief career summary
Dr. Tomoki Shiotani is a project leader senior scientist in Advanced Sensing & Evaluation project at Research Institute of Technology, Tobishima Corporation, Japan. He received B. Eng and M. Eng both from The University of Tokushima. In 1998, he received his PhD in natural science from Kumamoto University on ‘Application of acoustic emission to fracture evaluation in geotechnical materials.’ Between Sep 2001 and Nov 2002, he was invited to Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), The Netherlands, as a senior research fellow, where he studied shrinkage mechanisms of cement-based materials with Prof. Jan GM van Mier (presently in ETH Zurich) .
He is a key member of various technical committees not only in Japan but also in international societies. His broad research activity includes geotechnical materials, rock materials and concrete materials by means of NDT. He published more than 200 papers including over 30 referred journal papers and over 60 referred conference papers.
